AI ACROSS INDUSTRIES
Major New Jersey companies like Verizon, Johnson & Johnson, Fiserv, CoreWeave, and Cognizant are already making strides in AI. CoreWeave is investing $1.2 billion into a 280,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art data center at the Northeast Science & Technology Center in Kenilworth, New Jersey, furthering the world-class digital infrastructure that drives the state.
A HOTSPOT FOR TALENT
New Jersey boasts the highest concentration of scientists and engineers per square mile and the third-highest share of STEM degrees awarded in the United States. Stevens Institute of Technology houses the Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and New Jersey Institute of Technology offers a Master of Science in AI. These programs and more are actively training the next generation of AI innovators.
GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
We’re all in for AI innovation in New Jersey. The state has established a task force that explores how AI can stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance training and talent development. New Jersey is also spearheading a nation-leading endeavor to train state employees in the use of ethical AI. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority has also launched the $500 million Next New Jersey Program — AI, which provides tax credits to eligible businesses that build and foster the AI economy, especially large-scale AI data centers.
Fostering Ethical AI
The NJ AI Hub opened in 2025 and brings together researchers, industry leaders, and start-up companies to advance the use of ethical AI. Princeton University, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), Microsoft, and CoreWeave are founding partners. Together, they will invest over $72 million to support the long-term success of the Hub, including up to $25 million of nonbinding commitment from the NJEDA. As part of this investment, Microsoft is leveraging its TechSpark program to provide expertise and resources for workforce development. By housing dedicated accelerator space, the Hub advances the use of ethical AI to positively impact businesses and their employees. It also supports the development of a strong tech workforce through collaborations with other New Jersey universities, community colleges, and vocational schools.
